I WANT OPINIONS...DUST OR PARANORMAL ORBS?

The other night I was taking pictures in several costumes for an indi film i'm shooting. Each time I put the camera on a timer and then stood in the middle of the room. When I looked at the shots later, I noticed a circular light in these two. I've captured these lights before, and always ponder whether they're some sort of spirit orb or just a dust particle. I have experienced many paranormal happenings in my life, but also remain hesitant to jump to conclusions from case to case. I would say these are just dust particles, except for one thing...they are exactly where my eyes are looking in each picture.

MY NEW SIDE GIG w RY CUMING

I have taken on a ridiculously fun side project...playing keys/singing with musician RY CUMING! and guess what...we're going on tour with Maroon 5 throughout the next months! Good times ahead my friends, and you will be there for it all. Of course I am recording my own album at the same time, so I have absolutely every moment accounted for these days.

My first show with Ry was this last thursday at the Santa Monica Pier. I got the call to play with him last monday, so I had 3 days to learn the 6 songs we played onstage! To do intense music memory work like that is painful-I felt like quitting, crying, giving up and becoming a banker...(all these thoughts go through our mind when we're put through hard work, don't they? And please, NO offense to bankers!)

BUT, i buckled down and got through the memorization, and it was so satisfying to play that first concert. You can bet your ass i'm relaxing this weekend.

Checkout Myspace.com/RyCuming for our tour dates and come see us in your city!!

INSPIRATION AND INSIGHT IN MANHATTAN

I had quite an extraordinary day in NYC. I'm here for my Uncle Ringo's concert tomorrow at Radio City Music Hall. But before the family festivities begin, I took today to get lost in this magical city. I've been trying to slow down lately, focusing on a connection to nature and my place in the world. Sound cheesy? Not at all, because we all have these desires in common. I'm reading a fantastic book on the very subject, called 'Faith And Will; Weathering the Storms In Our Spiritual Lives' by Julia Cameron. I'm carrying it everywhere I go.
The first great experience of today was walking in Central Park with my father. We sometimes go through phases of estrangement, but today was a lovely connection I will remember always. We spoke about our feelings very honestly, and he shared things from his childhood that I never knew.
After I walked my dad back to his hotel, I took a cab to the FRICK MUSEUM on 70th and 5th. It is the private art collection and house of a wealthy steel tycoon. He built the house in the early 1900s with the intention of turning it into a museum upon his death. I spent several hours in the museum, walking through each amazing room. The house is so elaborate and grand, it is insane to think of a real family living their daily life there.
You probably don't know this, but the FRICKs built another mansion in Pittsburgh-I've visited that one as well. When I arrived, I KNEW the house and grounds, as if I'd been there before. I was even able to describe places in the house I had not seen yet, and the tour guide confirmed my points. My family and I were creeped out. The FRICKs lost a young daughter, and my mom is convinced I was her in a past life. That WOULD explain my feelings of belonging and knowledge of the FRICKs mansion. I always enjoy visiting their Manhattan estate, and I got my fill today.
I then walked 36 blocks home. I mentioned this to a few NYC friends, and they skoffed...BUT I'M AN LA GIRL. AND I'M PROUD OF MY MEASLY 36 BLOCKS, so there.
As I sit here typing I have eaten about a pound of 'SOUR PATCH KIDS'...a perfect end to a wonderfully emotional day.

We punish people in the present for things that happened in the past.

When you feel cruelty arising today, check in and see where it’s coming from. Yes, the person in front of you may be acting like a jerk, but they're not the cause of your reaction. It’s about something that happened in your past.

Take responsibility for your reactions today. Don’t hang blame on the outside world. Ask for guidance to see into your shadows.

NEW SARAH SONG HIT ME HARD

Im sitting at my desk listening to a few new records...Keane and Sarah McLachlan, as well as the new
Brandon Flower's single 'Crossfire'. As a pianist, I am obviously a Sarah Mclachlan FREAK, and one song in
particular hit me so hard I just burst into tears. 'Bring On The Wonder' is a prime example of what I steal
from Sarah's style...it's a tactic she shares with other women like Enya, Loreena McKennitt and Imogen Heap.
HARMONIES. When my album is finished and in your hands, you will definately hear the same.
OK I have to stop typing and go cry some more...

AWAKEN YOUR INNER CHILD

Ever gone back and dug up childhood memories? books you read...movies you watched...toys you had. Let me tell you, it is a powerful thing. I moved into a new place this weekend, and had to organize my book collection on the glorious new massive bookshelves I bought. I found my childhood books...Im talking FIRST memories as Lucy. To open these and study the pictures and storylines brings back so many feelings and concepts, it was abit overwhelming. When you re-visit things in your life like this, you realize how they have shaped your concepts and feelings in a serious way.

For instance, the papa bear of 'The Berenstain Bears' literally looks like my real-life dad in my mind...and always has. I did not realize this until I opened the book again at age 27. The characters of Ruby Buttons and Violet Pickles in the 'Ivy Cottage' books embody how I've always seen myself and my big sister Alison...I'm the short redhead (Ruby) and she is the tall skinny girl (Violet). again, I hadn't pieced this together until just now.

I suppose I'm sharing this seemingly kiddie concept, because it is incredible to see your mind...your entire LIFE to this point has been affected by what's around you. That is why it is of the utmost importance that we pay attention to what young people are influenced by. I am fortunate to have been exposed to very minimal violence in my childhood, but I see kids sometimes who are allowed to watch the news, or violent movies and it is really upsetting.

I am off to band rehearsal for my concert this saturday 6/26 at the Marin County Fair...and while I do that, do an amazing thing for yourself and find some of the old books/movies/places from your childhood and dive in again. It unlocks a forgotten world in your mind and leads to self-discovery. SO FUN!!

RAW FOOD AND LUDACRIS

First off, let me tell you I worked with Ludacris today on a project-and he is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Unassuming, good-hearted and genuine...not to mention talented and wildly entertaining.

Ok now that's out of the way...down to business-I've begun eating RAW. I'm not interested in full-on vegetarian or vegan, but I often overeat and feel really sluggish. So I've decided that several days a week i'll eat raw foods only. This is beneficial for many reasons, and I recommend you research it online if you're interested. I've ordered several great RAW cookbooks, but I've been too anxious for them to arrive...so last night I pulled 4 recipes offline, went to WholeFoods for the ingredients and made big batches to eat through the week. They were:

1. Curried Cauliflower, Squash and Leeks
2. Red Cabbage and Onion Slaw
3. Avocado Romaine Boats
4. Winter Buckwheat Breakfast

My favorite is the Avocado/Grapefruit Lettuce Cups, and I posted links for all 4 recipes below. They all turned out great!! In the past I've felt cooking was a waste of time...but these days cooking has become therapeutic after a day or week of busy life. We all need to balance work with something we simply enjoy, and this RAW project is my new happy place. Have a yummy RAW recipe? Email me at TheLucyWalsh@gmail.com and I'll post it!
