Lucy with Causecast

Lucy's video with Causecast. Check out the full video here: http://www.causecast.org/videos/12845-lucy-walsh
I went to this runway show called GenArt, my man was in it. It was atthe Peterson Automotive Museum, which is right by my house in Hollywood...how great! I felt like I was in Ugly Betty, the fashion world and it's people are so entertaining. While standing awkwardly backstage among tall women, I met a great girl named Krystal Simpson. She was wearing this cool fur (fake of course) hat, which was our main topic of conversation for well over an hour. Krystal writes a fashion blog WhatIsRealityAnyway.com...it's pretty amazing. We grew close right away, she is a dear friend and we have lots of cool plans for future projects. Watch out! Aside from that, i think I did pretty well with my red carpet outfit, and I got to go home with the HOTTEST model there, so the night was a good one.

NINTENDO EVENT

Got invited by the good peeps at Nintendo the other night to come try out their new NINTENDO DS...it's really cool. It has internet, music player, a camera, and tons of games (sold seperately). The game I tried is called 'Style Savvy'...you are the owner of a clothing boutique and you dress customers and work with them on what style they are looking for. Finally, a world where someone trusts ME to pick out their clothes!!

MY ARTICLE IN THE 'VENTURA COUNTY REPORTER'

Lucy in the sky
Eagle daughter flies solo and her popularity soars

By Chris Jay 10/15/2009

Lucy Walsh should be one of the many talentless celebrity offspring wobbling out of a trendy Hollywood bar slurring and stumbling for the paparazzi, famous for virtually nothing.

For starters, she’s the daughter of Joe “Life’s Been Good” Walsh, the Eagles’ ultratalented lead guitarist. She was conceived in Ringo Starr’s house, scored an out-of-the-gate major label record deal, dated former Click Five lead singer Eric Dill, and even backed up the arch enemy of credibility, Ashlee Simpson, after her Saturday Night Live lip-sync fiasco. With all that said, on paper, the petite and attractive 20-something blonde looks like a silver-spoon-in-the-mouth debutante, just a few degrees of separation from the Hiltons and Lohans of the world.

Surprisingly and refreshingly, nothing could be further from the truth. Lucy Walsh, despite her talented lineage and friends in high places, is a down-to-earth, dues paying, gifted artist who is finally finding her own powerful voice as a singer-songwriter.

Born in Santa Barbara, but raised predominately in the Los Angeles area by her mother, not her once hard-partying father, Walsh led a much more normal life then one might expect, spending her formative years immersed in dance, specializing in ballet, as well as dabbling in music as a classically trained pianist and singer.

Influenced by a wide array of artists, from the obvious, like Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos, to Blink 182 and Nickel Creek, Walsh’s early foray into the music business was forced into the top-40, pop-oriented direction despite her own tastes.

Regardless of her dad refusing to make any calls or connections, preferring his daughter to “put in the work like he had,” Walsh managed to land a huge record deal with Island Records in 2006. After a ridiculous amount of money was spent, label head changes, mergers and the overall decline of the industry left Walsh’s debut record, Lost In The Lights, unceremoniously shelved. Walsh was back on her own but free to take her career and her music into her own hands.

She managed to stay in the public’s eye with an appearance on MTV’s celebrity offspring talent show, Rock the Cradle, increasing her popularity by being one of the only actual legitimate artists on a mostly disappointing show. All the while, though, Walsh continued to hone her craft playing smaller venues and working on a massive catalog of personal and moving songs despite no record deal or proper release.

Now, with her long overdue debut scheduled to be recorded later this year and released next spring, Walsh is testing her material by making the rounds of California’s singer-songwriter circuit, which naturally brings her to Zoey’s and her first performance in Ventura. With word slowly spreading about Walsh’s importance in her own right, a younger fan base has been coming out to her shows, along with fans of her father, a fact that the upbeat Walsh is blunt about.

“I love who my dad is. He’s the best guy and the best musician, but he always said no favors. Yes, the name can get you in the door, but ultimately, no one gives a shit,” laughs Walsh. “If you don’t have the talent, you won’t go anywhere. I’m in love with my music right now. I’m having more fun than ever. I’ve really learned those are the two most important things.”

Lucy Walsh performs on Wednesday, Oct.21, at Zoey’s Cafe in Ventura, 451 E. Main St. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/lucywalsh or www.zoeyscafe.com.

COSTA RICA IN A NUTSHELL

It took us 20 hours to get to Playas Del Coco, the small remote town we ventured to in Costa Rica. Our planes were delayed in Dallas and Miami, which caused our luggage to disapear when we arrived in Costa Rica. When we made it through customs around 7pm and asked for a bus to Playas Del CoCo (4 hours away from the airport)...they laughed at us. Our options were to spend the night in dangerous San Jose, or take a 4 hour/150$ cab ride.
The cab driver scared me to tears, I whimpered the whole way there as he sped through curvy jungle roads with cliffs on both sides. He was PISSED about the drive but tried to be as nice as he could. We finally arrived to our friends and I felt much better.
UNTIL, the next day...when I was stung by a killer jellyfish. I was practically paralyzed for an hour, and Im still dealing with rashes that look like someone spilled wine down my legs. That was the first day, and we spent the next 3 days without luggage...good times. The town was one single street with monkeys in the trees and dog-sized iguanas on the dirtwalk (as opposed to sidewalk). Everyone rides bikes, and I narrowly escaped colliding with an old man losing control of his wheels around a bend. My boyfriend saw it coming, and instead of warning me, he thought it funnier to watch the potential drama unfold. To get him back, I kept my mouth shut when I spotted a dead fly in his coffee.
The trip was full of outrageous stories and happenings, but on a serious note, we had a GREAT time. We ziplined through the jungle, went out on a sunset sailboat cruise, biked, layed on the beach (although I did not set foot in the ocean again after the jellyfish...nor will I ever again).

I definately know more spanish than I thought, not very many people speak English in good old Playas Del CoCo, so our interactions were pretty interesting. And let me tell you something else, those Costa Ricans sure do NOT bargain their prices...they would not budge on priced items, and when my friend Molly tried to tell the saleswoman at the bazaar that she only had 20,000 colones for a 30,000 colones purchase, the woman literally pulled things out of her bag to put back. HAHA. Hasta Luego Costa Rica, until next time.

I JUST PERFORMED AT 100.3s SUMMER RADIO CONCERT

...in Downtown LA. Let me tell you, through the years of doing records that weren't really me and playing for other people...shows like tonight are truly satisfying, my OWN music in front of thousands of people. The venue was this park in the middle of the downtown buildings. I went and got these fake candles (remind me of the haunted mansion ride at disneyland) and I had them all around the stage...that along with my wine-red piano drape did make for quite a mood, not to mention the love songs I sang. Did a meet/greet after the show, met tons of people and heard a lot of personal stories about what my music meant to different ones. It makes this all very worth it when I hear how a certain song of mine has affected someone, to the point that several people cried at the table. Isn't that why we are all in love with music?

ME... IN THE 'TOP 20 SEXIEST ROCKSTAR SPAWN'...http://celeb.xooger.com/the-20-sexiest-rockstar-spawn/

This list of the 'Top 20 Sexiest RockStar Daughters' was brought to my attention, and it serves as a reminder that I should probably start wearing makeup in public, you never know who's watching.

ARTICLE BEGINS...
'It’s no secret – rock stars get the hottest chicks. That’s just how it goes. If you can rock, you will get laid, over and over again. And sometimes those bedroom (or bar bathroom) romps result in some rock star babies. But fortunately for us all, those little bundles of regret often grow up into the hottest, most badass chicks alive. So let us present to you the 20 Sexiest Rockstar Spawn.'

The Hotel Cafe

My favorite part of my concert at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood was that there was a packed audience of unfamiliar faces. This is always satisfying as a musician, to see strangers loving the music that I'm honored to create. My set included mostly brand new songs, I've been a writing machine lately. I like to share abit of the story behind songs as I go, so it really becomes more than just the music, it becomes something we can all be part of. And I'm so inspired by the people who come up after shows and tell me how one of my songs explains their situation/thoughts perfectly...that connection is why we love music, is it not? I sang at the piano for most of the show, except for an acoustic song called 'Secret Knock' with my guitarist Chas serenading as I sang on a stool. Other songs included 'Fly Fly Fly' (one I recently wrote on an airplane flight strangely enough)...and of course I ended the night with many people's favorite 'Lullaby'. Fabulous night, let's do it again in YOUR town.

Lucy Walsh; You know what really BUGS me about tour?

While on my US radio tour for my Def Jam record that never saw the light of day, my BF Emily and I encountered the largest bug on earth. It happened in the dead of night in Savannah-Georgia, while we were staying in the basement of a haunted mansion. I documented the events so that in case the bug devoured us, the footage would reveal the truth behind our disappearances...watch (PS. yes, i know there is mis-spelled text...hey, it was a long tour)

I'm obsessed with OBSESSED on A&E

There is this amazing new show on A&E called 'Obsessed'...they show people who have OCD and all kinds of disorders that manifest as manic behavior. You know, sometimes you and I get in the rut of thinking our life is so bad, but just watch one of these episodes and I swear you will be thanking God for all that you have. In the episode I caught, this boy Ryan had so many Obsessive/Compulsive rituals he could barely function...(such as checking locks, kissing his dog 2 sets of 12 before he left the house, etc.)...and he's about to be a father!! And the girl in the episode was afraid to eat almost all foods, and would pick and cut her face for hours. The show is incredibly interesting and very humbling, you can watch it on tv or online at AEtv.com/obsessed. GO!

Im travelling for my music, and had the day off in Nashville today. Whenever I have a day off away from home, I like to go on adventures. I love exploring, and more often than not my experiences turn into songs. Today my curiosity led me to a town in the country of Tennessee called Leipers' Fork. It's no more than a stretch of 10 buildings and a church. I had lunch, browsed antiques, and sat alone in the church for 30 min. SO relaxing. I am so amazed by the green countryside...being from LA, I am used to cement all around. From Leiper's Fork I found a 'Carnton Plantation'...built before the civil War, it was smack-dab in the middle of the fighting, and used as a hospital. It is strange to be standing in a beautiful place, reading about how men died on the grass all around you. I just got back into Nashville, but not before getting stuck in a torrential downpour...complete with lightning and thunder right on top of my car. I was actually really scared, we don't have storms like that in LA. It was an amazing day, I feel re-energized for the next 3 days of writing here in NV. IT'S ALL HAPPENING...Lucy
