The Hotel Cafe

My favorite part of my concert at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood was that there was a packed audience of unfamiliar faces. This is always satisfying as a musician, to see strangers loving the music that I'm honored to create. My set included mostly brand new songs, I've been a writing machine lately. I like to share abit of the story behind songs as I go, so it really becomes more than just the music, it becomes something we can all be part of. And I'm so inspired by the people who come up after shows and tell me how one of my songs explains their situation/thoughts perfectly...that connection is why we love music, is it not? I sang at the piano for most of the show, except for an acoustic song called 'Secret Knock' with my guitarist Chas serenading as I sang on a stool. Other songs included 'Fly Fly Fly' (one I recently wrote on an airplane flight strangely enough)...and of course I ended the night with many people's favorite 'Lullaby'. Fabulous night, let's do it again in YOUR town.

Lucy Walsh; You know what really BUGS me about tour?

While on my US radio tour for my Def Jam record that never saw the light of day, my BF Emily and I encountered the largest bug on earth. It happened in the dead of night in Savannah-Georgia, while we were staying in the basement of a haunted mansion. I documented the events so that in case the bug devoured us, the footage would reveal the truth behind our disappearances...watch (PS. yes, i know there is mis-spelled text...hey, it was a long tour)

I'm obsessed with OBSESSED on A&E

There is this amazing new show on A&E called 'Obsessed'...they show people who have OCD and all kinds of disorders that manifest as manic behavior. You know, sometimes you and I get in the rut of thinking our life is so bad, but just watch one of these episodes and I swear you will be thanking God for all that you have. In the episode I caught, this boy Ryan had so many Obsessive/Compulsive rituals he could barely function...(such as checking locks, kissing his dog 2 sets of 12 before he left the house, etc.)...and he's about to be a father!! And the girl in the episode was afraid to eat almost all foods, and would pick and cut her face for hours. The show is incredibly interesting and very humbling, you can watch it on tv or online at AEtv.com/obsessed. GO!

Im travelling for my music, and had the day off in Nashville today. Whenever I have a day off away from home, I like to go on adventures. I love exploring, and more often than not my experiences turn into songs. Today my curiosity led me to a town in the country of Tennessee called Leipers' Fork. It's no more than a stretch of 10 buildings and a church. I had lunch, browsed antiques, and sat alone in the church for 30 min. SO relaxing. I am so amazed by the green countryside...being from LA, I am used to cement all around. From Leiper's Fork I found a 'Carnton Plantation'...built before the civil War, it was smack-dab in the middle of the fighting, and used as a hospital. It is strange to be standing in a beautiful place, reading about how men died on the grass all around you. I just got back into Nashville, but not before getting stuck in a torrential downpour...complete with lightning and thunder right on top of my car. I was actually really scared, we don't have storms like that in LA. It was an amazing day, I feel re-energized for the next 3 days of writing here in NV. IT'S ALL HAPPENING...Lucy
