MUD, TEAPOT AND SUB-ZERO* PHOTOSHOOT

Had a day off in Nashville and went on a photoshoot with my friend Jenn. It was absolutely muddy and freezing. Just to work and play in nature is so recharging, I spend 90% of my time in a music studio...which is probably why Im so pale. You'd never guess Im from CA. The photo of me on the ground laughing w my foot stuck in the chair was not posed...i was pouring tea and sitting backwards on the chair when it sank in the mud-I crashed on my back and Jenn kept shooting. (id like to point out that I managed to keep the teapot level in my hand!)

It's always refreshing when I come up with a song thats about something OTHER than love. I wrote this song with my friend Trent Dabbs in Nashville...it's simply about things I did when I was a kid-yelling cuss words with by best friend as loud as we could, and pretending my cement driveway was the beach. (how sad is that, being a kid in SoCal and I had to pretend to be at the beach). And by the way, the Michael Valentine from the second verse was my real-life kindergarten boyfriend...he really set the bar with a last name like that! I think ill put it on my album, what do you think?

A THRILL AT THE SYMPHONY

The Nashville Symphony was absolutely thrilling. I saw 'The Organ Symphony'...conducted by Giancario Guerrero, with special guest violinist Hilary Hahn. I decided to splurge and get seats in the 3rd row...which was exciting, but we couldn't see the brass/wind sections in the back. There is something sofantastic about a live orchestra, it is amazing to think it used to be the only way people would hear music. It is becoming a lost art, and I am thankful for the people who keep it alive. If you have not gone to a symphony, do it!! After the show, I saw one of the violinists in the lobby and asked her for a picture. She thought I was asking her to take a picture of us, not with her...she was so surprised I wanted a pic with her, I was a geeky fan. We've stayed in touch, her name is Kirsten and she's insanely talented. It was a lovely night, rubbing elbows with high-society and the treat of intelligent music.

WRAPPING UP THE YEAR IN ENGLAND

I spent the end of 2009 in the English country side with my family. The house dates back 500 years. We had lots of laughs, food, and music. I feel very at home in England, although it took me 30 hours of travel each way to get there and back.
